Did I prefer the film or the novel
I prefered the movie because in the movie you feel and see the facial expresions of the characters. In a book they won't say and describe the feelings of the charactes in full detail but in the movie you were able to see the dirt on their faces and the worry on their faces. Despite the book being really good, it can not illustrate images of the darkness,the torches of the enemy or the sound of the guns. In that sense, the moive is a lot better than the book.
Differences between the novel and film
A small difference between the novel and the film is that the film is made more modern. At the start of the novel, Ellie was writing down all the accounts of her journey however, at the start and the end of the film she was talking through a video recording. Also, the weapons stated in the novel are old rifle and the most modern type of gun was the shotgun. In the movie there was all these guns but also Ellie took a automatic machine gun from the enemy. This has been done in order to entertain younger children watching the film according to director, Stuart Beattie. There was also changes in the order of events, Fi told Ellie of her love of Homer quite early in the novel however in the film it happened almost at the end.
